Outrage and censorship at Prison Planet

Hundreds and hundreds of Alex Jones supporters angry over “huge announcement” promised by Jones was really just a mock interview that never took place

by Larry Simons
September 9, 2009

Many Alex Jones supporters awaited with anticipation for an announcement that would appear at his website Prison Planet on Tuesday morning. Jones promised his readers, “This information will be the biggest thing that Alex Jones has ever announced or done and you will read all about it here first.”

Many supporters were joking about what it might be, but all in all, I’m sure deep down they were really anticipating this might be something really big as promised. Was it photos of Bin Laden’s dead body? Was it a recording of an admission from Bush, Cheney or Giuliani that 9/11 really was an inside job? Instead of anything even resembling an actual breaking news story, what readers got Tuesday morning made many of them furious.

The big story? The announcement that actor and 9/11 activist Charlie Sheen did a 20-minute sit-down interview with President Obama and shared information with him regarding the cover-up of 9/11. It was great. Jones supporters read as Sheen mentioned facts about 9/11 like Norman Mineta’s testimony that Cheney knew a plane was heading for Washington, Giuliani admitting that someone told him the WTC was going to collapse, Operation Northwoods (a 1962 document that mentioned a plan for a staged terror attack by the U.S.) and scores of other important facts.

But, the joke was on us. This “interview” never actually happened. The article about it, titled, “20 Minutes with the President”, started out by telling readers, (words of Charlie Sheen) “I recently had the pleasure of sitting down with our 44th President of the United States of America, Barack Hussein Obama, while he was out promoting his health care reform initiative. I requested 30 minutes given the scope and detail of my inquiry; they said I could have 20. Twenty minutes, 1200 seconds, not a lot of time to question the President about one of the most important events in our nation’s history. The following is a transcript of our remarkable discussion.” Wouldn’t any sane person naturally assume the interview actually did happen if an article started off like this? Of course they would.

After the entire “interview” was over, Sheen posts this disclaimer: “Author’s Note: What you have just read didn’t actually happen… yet.”

If it “didn’t actually happen…yet”, what’s the story here? That Sheen wrote a fictionalized interview? Apparently, I was not alone in my outrage over this. I’m in very good company. The comment board lit up like a Las Vegas marquee with scores and scores of comments by outraged Jones supporters. Here are just a few of the 200+ angry comments directed at Jones:

From “Not Cool”: “jones just lost a listener. this behavior is extremely shady. three comments have been censored. this interview did not happen. it is a literary device. i don’t know what is up with jones putting this up like it is real. there’s going to be alot of angry prison planet readers in about a half hour. they just made a bunch of fools of us all. thanks alex.”

From “dddd”: “ITS A FICTIONAL STORY????????????????????????????????????????

When I first saw the story this morning at around 9am, there were already over 200 comments on the board, most of them were very negative toward Jones, saying “Jones is a fraud” or “I will never believe Jones again” and so on and so on. There were very few positive comments, but the only positive comments directed at the article were comments made by people who obviously did not read the entire article and the disclaimer at the end that said, “What you have just read didn’t actually happen… yet.”

The interesting thing is, when I returned to Prison Planet at roughly 2 a.m., there were only 225 comments under the story. I thought to myself, “There’s no way there’s still only 200+ comments on the board when there was already 200+ comments 17 hours earlier.” I found out why.

Apparently, 95% of all the comments from outraged people were deleted and now, as I sit here, most of the comments now are positive toward the article, but it still remains that the only comments that are positive are from people who obviously did not read the disclaimer, “What you have just read didn’t actually happen… yet.”

The interesting thing is, the very few negative comments that remain are from people who are only reminding other commenters that the interview “didn’t actually happen…yet”, but even fewer remain that tell Alex Jones that they are very angry and that his credibility is shot to hell as a result of this story.

What I also found very interesting is that many of the positive comments that say “Great job Charlie” or “Charlie has brass balls”, were posted after the comments from people who reminded them that this interview is fake.

Another amazing thing about the comment board is: there are no comments posted after 9:30 a.m. That means only one thing: The comment thread was disabled at 9:30am, I’m assuming because of the flood of negative comments directed toward Jones; the ones I actually saw yesterday morning that have suddenly vanished. Also, the “reply” feature has been disabled, so you can’t reply to someone else’s comment.

Has Jones now resorted to the very thing he has been claiming he has been a victim of all these years: Censorship? Apparently so.

Here are screen shots of what a normal comment thread looks like, complete with the “reply” feature: (click to enlarge)

Here is a screen shot of the comment section under the “20 Minutes with the President” story: (Notice, no “reply” feature) (click to enlarge)

There are a few comments that still remain from readers that express their unbelief that people are still fooled by this mock interview even after several commenters have told them it didn’t happen.

Brad” says: “It really amazes me that all of you didn’t read this whole thing. It didn’t happen yet you all go on like this was an actual interview. Makes us all look really stupid. The points in this fake interview are excellent though and should be shared with those who still refuse to even look into 9/11.”

According to some commenters on this thread, Prison Planet did not issue the disclaimer to the “interview” until 15 minutes after it was posted and they didn’t issue the disclaimer at all on Jones’ sister site,

bobbbbbb” said: “I saw the article when it was first released, I even copied it via pdf. It DID NOT HAVE A DISCLAIMER AT THE BOTTOM! They posted this article before they edited that part in 15 MIN LATER!. Do not get all huffy puffy at people for reading an article that did NOT HAVE A DISCLAMIER until 15 minutes after the first posting!”

One comment captured exactly how I feel about this story. It’s a good thing someone else said it, because since Prison Planet has censored the site, I can’t say it.

"JCFreedom" said: “I do not understand the point of this, the Author’s note said it has not happened. Anyone can talk or type a good game this does not mean jack shit until it happens. Since it has now been published for all to see I would wager Sheen will be put on the Secret Service list of people to keep far away from the President, not very well played at all gentlemen this was a stupid thing to do.”

Exactly. This “open letter to the President” is guaranteed to not ever making it to the President now.

I’m not really sure what’s going on at Prison Planet, but something has to change and change fast. I really have no vendetta against Jones, but unbelievably, this is now the second story in a row that has angered me. This is unprecedented. I would have never imagined four years ago that I would ever be writing one post in opposition to issues at Prison Planet, but two in a row? I can’t believe it myself.

In my personal opinion, the only way I see Alex Jones gaining his credibility back with the majority of his followers that have promised to abandon him in light of this “breaking” Charlie Sheen story is to apologize to them. I see no other way around it. He should apologize for the deception and trickery behind the story and for censoring his website.

Quite frankly, his association with and approval of Pastor Steve Anderson is far more disturbing than this Charlie Sheen story.

I also found it rather odd that nobody on the comment thread mentioned “why would Sheen vote for Obama if Sheen is such a big Alex Jones fan?” (Sheen mentions in his mock interview “I should point out that I voted for you [Obama], as your promises of hope and change, transparency and accountability, as well as putting government back into the hands of the American people, struck an emotional chord in me that I hadn’t felt in quite some time, perhaps ever")

Who knows? Someone may have said that and it was one of the many deleted comments.

Why is Alex Jones schmoozing with a guy that voted for Obama (in whom Jones has already done one film about how corrupt he is [The Obama Deception] and the 2nd one on Obama is coming out soon)?

I really can't put all these puzzle pieces together or figure out what it all means. Why is Jones getting all excited about such a non-story? Even if Charlie Sheen was granted 10 minutes with Obama, does one actually think Obama would gleefully accept his information and evidence as truth and give Sheen the time of day? Even if he did, does Sheen think anything would actually happen as a result? It's already obvious to Prison Planet that Obama believes the official 9/11 story hook, line and sinker. They even ran a story in June showing a clip of Obama saying not to challenge the official 9/11 story.

The very best thing Sheen could have done was to shut his mouth about why he wants to visit Obama and when the meeting actually happened, then reveal his purpose. It's a 100% guarantee that Sheen won't get access to Obama now.

Even if Obama did agree to chat with Sheen, there's no way in hell that Sheen would have enough time to address 10% of the issues Sheen lays out in his mock interview. Sheen actually believes Obama will sit there while he runs down each of the 20 points he makes at the end of the questioning? What planet does Sheen live on? Planet Gulliblelia?

No doubt, the one thing that has me [as well as, I'm sure, most everyone else] fuming mad is the fact that Prison Planet has disabled the comment threads on their Charlie Sheen stories. Other non-Sheen stories have their comment threads disabled too, but I believe this was done to camouflage the fact that they wanted to eliminate commenting on the Sheen stories, so they disabled commenting on the non-Sheen stories to give the appearance it was not only the Sheen stories they were censoring.

I cannot believe Prison Planet has stooped to this level.

Are they trying to alienate 90% of their support?

My comments are now gone, and they didnt even have anything to do with Sheen or the story! On non-related threads! But this isnt the first time this has happened to me. My comments have been censored at prisonplanet plenty of times in the past. Alex has been going downhill for the last year or 2 now anyway, but hes really killing his credibility with quicker speed lately.

Oh, and they even admit in their latest story that the disclaimer didnt appear for about 20 minutes. They claim it was a "technical snafu". Who actually believes that?

When I read the article I knew that no such meeting would have taken place without the media being alerted and some type of PR advantage taken by the President himself. So, after reading the stories misleading introduction as you have mentioned here, I read the article and looked for a disclaimer. There was no disclaimer at the time as the article had just gone up. Then the disclaimer was added later after many people thought it was real. A "War of the Worlds/Orson Welles" mini-scenario. This in top of Alex hyping it up the day before to give it even more feeling that it would actually be something factual and truly effective regarding the truth movement, which it also was not.

Alex mentioned on the show today that he spends $25-30,000 a month on bandwidth, but still had to shut down the comments sections to save on bandwidth. The text takes up minimal resources. It was because of all the negative comments because the negative comments were getting deleted right away and heavily before the comment sections were shut off. There was massive censorship going on right from the beginning.

How can this guy be championing 1st Amendment Constitutional Rights to Free Speech when he is censoring any critical comments from his own page, while he preaches he is doing everything he does for the sake of the listeners.

Many contradictions here to consider.

Part 1...

Alex, during his show, was hyping up Sheen as a nice, smart, sincere family man.

Alex didn’t do his homework and report the facts in journalistic style regarding Mr. Sheen.

The story of a typical Hollywood child and lifestyle…not the wholesome example I want at the apex of the truth movement…hardly.

Charlie Sheen…

Real name…Carlos Irwin Estévez.

Sheen was born Carlos Irwin Estévez in New York City, the youngest son and third of four children born to actor Martin Sheen and artist Janet Templeton. Martin adopted his stage name in honor of the Catholic archbishop and theologian, Fulton J. Sheen, with Charlie also taking this stage name.

Just a few weeks before graduation, Sheen was expelled from the school for poor grades and bad attendance.

Sheen and his former girlfriend Paula Profit have a daughter, Cassandra Jade Estevez (born December 12, 1984). Sheen and Profit did not marry. In 1990, Sheen accidentally shot his then-fiancee, Kelly Preston, in the arm; a minor wound needing two stiches. The relationship ended shortly thereafter.

Part 2...

In 1993, his name was found among Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss’ list of her most frequent customers, and it was revealed that Sheen hired highly compensated call girls from escort agencies. In 1995 he testified at the trial of Heidi Fleiss, where it was revealed he’d spent $50,000 on prostitutes in 14 months. Also, Jason Itzler, owner of the famous escort service NY Confidential, claimed in March 2008 that Sheen paid $20,000 for the services of two prostitutes, one of whom was Ashley Dupre, of Eliot Spitzer prostitution scandal fame. ***Sheen denied the allegations.***

In 1995, Sheen married Donna Peele. The marriage lasted a little more than a year, from his 30th birthday on September 3, 1995 to November 19, 1996. In 1996, Sheen announced that he had become a born-again Christian.

In a 1997 Empire magazine interview, Sheen was asked what was the largest number of people Sheen had sex with at any one time. He replied: “…five girls at once. It was a pile-up…and it wasn’t so much about going Caligula, it was very organized. Very ordered…all six people in that room came out of it pretty satisfied”. Sheen was listed as #2 on Maxim’s “Top 10 Living Legends of Sex”, citing an alleged 5,000 women that he has slept with.

On May 20, 1998, alone and bored in his Malibu home, Charlie decided to try injecting cocaine for the first time, accidentally giving himself an overdose. He was discharged from the hospital soon afterward, but his father Martin Sheen issued a public appeal for fans to pray for him, and reported him for violation of parole. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and Charlie was sent to rehab. In the Empire magazine interview, he stated that he took a bullet for the industry when he was called into court to “name names”.
***Instead…Sheen did the cover-up for drug criminals***

Although Sheen was involved with a number of Hollywood personalities, his long-term relationship with former pornographic actress Ginger Lynn in the late 1990s garnered the most media attention. He was also involved for a time with former pornographic actress Heather Hunter. On June 15, 2002, he married actress Denise Richards after meeting her while filming Good Advice in 2001. They have two daughters, Sam J. Sheen-Estevez (born March 9, 2004) and Lola Rose Sheen-Estevez (born June 1, 2005). In March 2005, while she was still carrying their daughter Lola, Richards filed for divorce from Sheen. Sheen and Richards’ divorce was official on November 30, 2006.

Further, Richards alleged that Sheen visited prostitutes and was addicted to gambling, prescription drugs (which he bought over the Internet), and pornography. Richards also alleged that Sheen posted a picture of his erect penis on his online profile of a “sex-search type” website and that he frequently viewed pornography featuring “very young girls,” and websites “involving gay pornography also involving very young men who also did not look like adults.” Based on these allegations, Richards sought and received a restraining order against Sheen.
***Sheen denied the allegations.***

A year and a half after Sheen and Richards’ divorce, on May 30, 2008, Sheen married Brooke Mueller (also known as Brooke Allen), a real estate investor. This was the third trip down the aisle for Sheen and the first for Mueller. The couple’s twins, Bob and Max were born on March 14, 2009.

Not quite the image Alex was portraying and advertising for Mr. Sheen on the show recently.
I am sure all of this would just be considered ancillary and unimportant when making flattering characterizations concerning Alex's spectacle boy.

It appears that TV Star Charlie Sheen has never gotten over his addiction to hookers.

Another famous madam Nicki who managed a stable of prostitutes that included two Playboy Playmates, tells Vanessa Grigoriadis in the new Rolling Stone that she booked her girls for the “Two and a Half Men” star until last year. The article, “The Sex Queen of LA,” details Nici’s control of a lucrative escort service that rented stunningly beautiful women to sex-hungry men for up to $25,000 a night through ads and word of mouth.

“One day, according to Nici, the unthinkable happened: Charlie Sheen answered an ad. It was the Holy Grail of escorting, the Hollywood connection that can make or break a service,” Gregoriadis reports. “When Nici dropped four girls off at his penthouse, she found the actor in silk pajamas with ‘C. MaSheen’ embroidered over the pocket. Sheen gave her a $20,000 check for the girls, and she picked them up several hours later.”

Even after Sheen entered court-ordered rehab, Nici “continued to book girls for him, furtively sending them to a doctor’s office in LA owned by a friend of Sheen’s. The orderlies at the rehab center would let him out for his frequent medical appointments.”

Gregoriadis says Nici told her she continued to book girls for Sheen until last year, sending them to a hotel in Santa Monica.

Sheen’s publicist, Stan Rosenfield, told the New York Post: “This is an old, old, old story. But, if you’re looking for a really good story, I heard that Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe are getting a divorce.”

Sheen, 42, divorced Denise Richards, 36, two years ago with the former Bond girl complaining of his love of hookers and Internet porn, saying it endangered their kids. Sheen, who’s rehabbed for booze and drugs, admitted in court he was a client of Hollywood Madam Heidi Fleiss.

So I got banned yesterday from the PP forums for only stating the truth that this whole
“20 minutes with the President” was a Terrible idea and very bad for the 9/11 truth movement.
Why cant you guys HANDLE an ounce of constructive criticism?
I could understand if I was using foul language but that was not the case.
I have been a fan of the show for years and not a TROLL or Cointelpro.
Just an average listener that thinks publishing distorted articles and deceiving listeners STINKS..
Now it turns out you are saying that leaving the disclaimer off was a innocent mistake?
I call massive BS and you are trying to save face.
Alex you threw a bomb into the Credibility of your WHOLE BODY OF WORK!!
As for the MODS of the PP forum you tools are nothing but sock puppets for Alex Jones and Infowars should face the facts you LOST a ton of credibility yesterday and I am sure the ratings will show it

Anonymous 12:39----you are EXACTLY rght. I KNOW they deleted MANY MANY comments. I was on the site that morning at about 9am, and saw a flood of comments that were negative against Jones, and they are all gone now. Like my story says, at 9am yesterday, there were already over 200+ comments THAT early, so the censorship is DEFINATELY the issue here, not bandwidth. If it was a bandwidth issue, why dont they just delete comments from the older stories to free up bandwidth for the newer ones? Or, why dont they delete all the comments from people praising Sheen (from the people that obviously either didnt read the disclaimer or made their comment when it wasnt there?)

the_last_name_left said...

Well, obviously I have been censored at pisonplanet countless times.

One never notices censorship if one is toeing the accepted line.

Why did Alex stoop to this? Why did Alex censor the comments? Because that's what he is like and that's what he has ALWAYS been like.

I know it can be confusing to come to terms with,'s true: Alex doesn't deserve your support, nor your hard-earned money.

Alex has been playing as loosely with the facts as he has with you his audience.......for years.

Prisonplanet used to tell their advertisers that adverts were disguised as news items, thereby generating huge hits.

If someone is prepared to exploit their audience in such a cynical fashion, they don't deserve an audience.

So don't give him the audience?

the_last_name_left said...

btw - have a listen to this talk on Willis Carto - head of the AmericanFreePress.

This is the sort of person that Alex Jones is close to - even though he tries to hide the meaning of such connections.

Larry said...

I watched 7 minutes of the Book TV show with George Michael. I'll watch the rest later. I have removed the American Free Press link from my site.

the_last_name_left said...

good for you, Larry.

I'm impressed that you can obviously change your mind if you see good reason to do so. Lordy knows it's difficult to change one's mind - especially in public - but people need to respect it as a mark of integrity, not as something shameful or embarassing. IMO we all need to make it easier for people to feel able to change their mind (given good cause to do so).

Hell, yeah - well done Larry! Good for you.

That video ain't too exciting, but it does give a give a fair summary of Carto and how he is essentially someone dressed in a suit and seeming respectable but all the while trying to present Nazi ideas. If he dressed in his full swaztika outfit no-one would take him seriously. Hence the need to pretend he's not such a creature, and hence Alex Jones' need to ensure Carto and what he actually represents stay obscured in the background.

Carto has used 911 Truth for his own ends. For him it's just a vehicle on which to further his own agenda. Personally I'd say the same about Alex Jones.....and Rivero too. They are serving their own agendas, and things like 911 or Iraq are just issues to exploit.

I don't mind people disagreeing with me - but people who hide their fascism behind faked concern for "the people" and "liberty" make me puke. They're despicable. A lot of people get taken in - how can anyone claiming to support "liberty!" be a fascist? But of course - that's why they claim to be for "liberty" - precisely to confound their audience.

the_last_name_left said...

all comments for all stories at prisonplanet are OFF. wow.

bandwidth? lol. Comments take a tiny amount of video switched off would easily cover the comments for a week's worth of Pisonplanet.

never seen that before. wow.

The audience was pissed off - so they shut the audience off. LOL. Like it's going to help them? hehe

Larry said...

Yeah, the bandwidth excuse is COMPLETE and utter BULLSHIT. When I get back home tonight, Im running another story on the "bandwidth" issue and how its big lie. PP posted 40 stories today and 5 of them included videos. THAT didnt take bandwidth????? Its OBVIOUS they are silencing the dissent on the Sheen "story".

Anonymous said...

Think I'll give up on prisonplanet if this is the kind of stunt Jones wants to pull, maybe he is working for the NWO now or something along those lines, seems like someone's been putting the squeeze on him lately as he is doing what he is supposed to be fighting.

Anyone know of any other sites I can go to for my truth movement news? I know of illuzia, poor wiseman & collective evolution.

I used to leave comments on PP all the time without any problem.
Now I am apparently banned as NONE of my comments show up there anymore.
What was my offense?
Calling them out too often on their poorly written/researched stories.
This from the same site that accused both FaceBook and MySpace of "censorship" for deleting user content regarding their childish "Obama/Joker" poster.
The quality of their "reporting" has declined so much since Obama took office that it's like watching Glenn Beck or listening to Michael Savage.
REALLY disappointing.
