Another racist Limbaugh stunt, BEFORE the Imus controversy in which NOTHING was said or done

The hypocrisy of Al Sharpton shines even brighter in light of Limbaugh's parodying of Sharpton singing racist song

Media Matters
March 20, 2007

On the March 19 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, host Rush Limbaugh highlighted a March 19 Los Angeles Times op-ed that described Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL) as "running for an equally important unelected office, in the province of the popular imagination -- the 'Magic Negro'" -- a term used by critics of pop culture to describe certain benevolent African-American characters. Limbaugh stated: "The term 'Magic Negro' has been thrown into the political presidential race in the mix for 2008. And the term 'Magic Negro,' as applied to Barack Obama has been done by an L.A. Times columnist, David Ehrenstein." Limbaugh later asserted: "I'm going to keep referring to him as that because I want to make a bet that by the end of this week I will own that term," adding, "If I refer to Obama the rest of the day as the 'Magic Negro,' there will be a number of people in the drive-by media and on left-wing blogs who will credit me for coming up with it and ignore the L.A. Times did it, simply because they can't be critical of the L.A. Times, but they can, obviously, be critical of talk radio." Limbaugh continued to refer to Obama as the "Magic Negro" throughout the broadcast -- 27 times, to be exact -- and at one point sang "Barack, the Magic Negro" to the tune of "Puff, the Magic Dragon." Limbaugh defended his use of the song, stating, "Well, that's what we always do here. We do parodies and satires on the idiocy and phoniness of the left."

This is not the first time Limbaugh has commented on Obama’s race. Click below: http://mediamatters.org/items/200701240010

How in the hell does Rush Limbaugh continually get to make these racist comments on his show and stay on the air, when Don Imus makes ONE comment about "Nappy hair" and gets fired from radio AND TV? (I excluded "ho’s" in the phrase because "ho" isn’t racist). Where is the outrage? Why isn’t this story plastered across every news show in America like the Imus story was? Where is Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson and their posse calling for the firing of Limbaugh? This is amazing to me, since in the parody played by Limbaugh, the singer was pretending to BE Sharpton singing the song about Obama!!

It makes one wonder, what other higher forces were in place to oust Imus, when Limbaugh makes racist comments on his show on a daily basis and NOTHING happens. It’s simply amazing, and I am sick to my stomach of this blatant hypocrisy from all directions from the media, to Al Sharpton to Jesse Jackson and any other source that publically lynched Don Imus for ONE statement, yet continues to allow Limbaugh to have the platform for his blatant and relentless racism.

Comment: This is an old story (from March 2007), so it makes it more of a point as to why nothing was said or done about it, since the Imus story happened in early April. Seems Sharpton can handle being parodied singing a racist song, but he can’t handle the phrase "Nappy headed". Simply amazing, and hypocritical!
